IOC lifts doping ban, reinstates Russian membership

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has lifted Russia’s doping ban and reinstated the country’s membership after suspending it in December last year over doping allegations, according to RT.

Reuters quotes Alexander Zhukov, the president of the Russian Olympic Committee, as saying “the Russian Olympic Committee has had its rights fully restored,” in comments broadcast on state TV.

Russians competed as neutrals at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, during which two of their athletes tested positive for banned substances.
